Agronutrition by DSG and Lidea are pooling their expertise in seeds
Carbonne, 29 June 26 – Following five years of collaborative research and development, seed company Lidea and biostimulation specialist Agronutrition by DSG have announced the success of their technological partnership. This collaboration has led to the development of new seed coating solutions for maize and cereals, addressing the challenges faced by European farmers in terms of performance, profitability and the transition to agroecology.
Because it all starts with the seed, investing in its potential means securing the potential of the harvest. Faced with current challenges relating to resilience, rising input costs and food sovereignty, Lidea and Agronutrition by DSG have chosen to pool their expertise in genetics, plant physiology and biostimulation.
This Research & Development (R&D) work, carried out in parallel over several growing seasons, has now resulted in the creation of a cutting-edge technology based on biofertiliser and biostimulant active ingredients.
This innovation will be rolled out very soon across the European market through two innovations:
● a new, cutting-edge coating technology developed by Lidea for maize seeds.
● a biostimulant product for seed treatment (ST) developed and marketed by Agronutrition by DSG.
Synergy in R&D to tackle challenges on the ground
The development of this biotechnology stemmed from a shared realisation: the need to provide European farmers with integrated solutions right from sowing to optimise plant nutrition, stimulate root development and improve nitrogen efficiency throughout the growing cycle.
By combining a consortium of selected bacteria, a unique protein extract and a targeted nutritional complex, this innovation acts simultaneously on the soil, the roots and the crop’s metabolism. Development trials conducted by the two partners confirm the robustness and consistency of this technological synergy under a variety of soil and climate conditions.
“Our shared aim was to develop an integrated approach starting from the seed stage to enable more sustainable fertilisation that is less reliant on nitrogen inputs, whilst maintaining and improving the crop’s establishment and yield performance,” explains Céline Cauhapé, Head of Product Portfolio and Innovation at Lidea.
“This innovation is the culmination of several years of research carried out by our R&D teams. It reflects our ability to transform our scientific expertise into practical solutions for agriculture, and to support our industrial partners and distributors in developing high value-added solutions for farmers,” explains Christelle Rudelle, Technical and Commercial Manager for the Biosolutions seeds division.
