Formed in 1969 by the SCPA, Agronutrition is today a subsidiary SME of the De Sangosse Group.

History

In order to finance our external growth, in January 2009 the De Sangosse Group became Agronutrition’s sole shareholder. The employees became shareholders in the De Sangosse Group.

Firmly committed to the values demanded by the market and shared by its partners, Agronutrition has based its development on innovation.

As part of the privatisation of the SCPA, in August 2004 Agronutrition changed shareholder. With financial help from the De Sangosse Group, all of Agronutrition’s staff became majority shareholder in its company.

In perfect coherence with the company’s values, at the end of 2003 Agronutrition launched Stimulase, a new generation of nutritional supplement which contributes towards developing the resistance of cultivated plants to nutritional, physiological or pathological stresses. A well nourished plant will defend itself much better against attacks from its surrounding environment.

On 6 June 2003, Agronutrition unveiled its new industrial facility in Carbonne at the Activestre Agro-Environmental Park south of Toulouse, responding to the most up to date environmental standards.

As a consequence of this dramatic event, sustainable development became a major strategic focus for the company.

Located opposite the AZF factory, Agronutrition was completely destroyed during the explosion of 21 September 2001. Thanks to the goodwill of its staff and the support of its shareholder, local institutions and the Total Group, the company survived this disaster.

In 2000, the SCPA outsourced their activities to subsidiaries and created Agronutrition SAS.

The Oligo-Fertilizer Department drew on its knowledge of cultivated plant physiology to release several product ranges onto the market with the final objective being to improve the qualitative criteria of agricultural production (nutritional value, proteins, taste, colour, grade, firmness, etc).

In 1994 and 1999, it concentrated its offer around the market sectors of prevention and treatment of deficiencies in micronutrients, improvement in the quality of agricultural production, and environmental fertilisation.

Reform of the Common Agricultural Policy in 1992 marked the breaking of the “productivist” model and the search for convergence between agriculture, environment and territory.

From 1969 to1992, the Anti-Deficiency Service, along with the Oligo-Fertilizer Department  of the Alsace Potash Company (SCPA), acquired an expert knowledge of the role of micro-nutrients in plant nutrition and the way they affect soil-plant relationships.

Using this expertise, it developed a real know-how with regard to formulation and can offer agricultural producers adapted solutions in order to prevent or correct deficiencies in plants.
